Spirits Victoria is committed to ensuring the Victorian distilling industry is well trained, with access to specialist courses and information.

The Victorian Government has made a substantial investment into the development of the Distilling Industry in Victoria. Spirits Victoria, in conjunction with the National Distilling Institute and Australian Distillers Association, has developed courses that address the specialised nature of what we as distillers do.

  • The NDI has been established as a partnership between the National Food Institute and the Australian Distillers Association in conjunction with Spirits Victoria to establish a suite of training programs. These will be rolled out over the coming years.

  • Any employees joining our industry need training to get them up-to-speed with what we do. This course, the first offering from the NDI, has been developed to provide a broad range of specialised skills and allow them to develop problem solving skills.

  • Safety training is essential, particularly for environments with Dangerous Goods, but it can often be generic. This course developed for Spirits Victoria is specifically aimed at workers in distilleries. Initially for Victorian distillers only, we hope to make this important training available Australia wide.

  • Distilleries now have access to funding to help cover the costs of training owners and staff on all parts of distillery operations. Funding of up to $2,000 is available.
